Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins Renewal Cream

Origins is a brand I hadn’t tried anything from until I picked up their Night & Day Delights gift set in the Boots Christmas sale.  I was all out of my other moisturisers so I decided to pick this up and try some of their products.

This gift set contained four items plus a make up bag. The items included in the set were:

  • High-Potency Night-A-Mins™ Renewal Cream 50ml
  • Modern Friction™ Nature’s Gentle Dermabrasion 30ml
  • Ginzing™ Energy-Boosting Moisturiser 30ml and
  • Drink Up™ Intensive Overnight Mask 30ml

Although this set is no longer available all of the items that were included in it are available in Origins permanent product line so you can still purchase them individually, although, I am sure they will have a similar, if not the same gift set available at some point.

The High-Potency Night-A-Mins Renewal Cream is one product I hadn’t heard a lot about so I didn’t know what to expect as I bought it on a whim, but I’ve been really enjoying it luckily.

It’s quite a thick cream and it does leave my skin feeling the slightest bit tacky at first but once it soaks in it leaves a lovely feeling on my skin.   It has a gorgeous orange scent, which isn’t strong and doesn’t last once the cream has been absorbed into my skin.

It leaves my skin feeling moisturised, soft and plump but without leaving a greasy film on my skin.  Because of how thick it is I do find it takes a good 5-10 minutes for it to fully absorb but once it does there is no tacky feeling or anything.

The cream comes in a hard plastic jar that is quite weighty for it’s size and because it’s not glass I am surprised at how weighty it is, in saying that, it’s not so heavy that you couldn’t take it travelling or anything, you could.

Before I started using this I always needed to use a serum or oil in conjunction every night with whatever cream I was using to ensure my skin was hydrated and moisturised because of how dry it is, with this cream, I don’t need to do that.  Twice a week I like to mix a couple of drops of my The Ordinary Rosehip Oil in with this and I feel this is enough to give my skin a little extra hydration.  On the days I don’t mix the oil in with my moisturiser at night I will use a serum in the morning and that works well for me.

I’m only about a quarter way through my jar but when it runs out I can see myself repurchasing because I really, really like this cream and how it makes my skin feel.  I would recommend this if you have very dry skin as it will help.  If your skin is oily I don’t think this is one I would recommend because of how thick it is, it could just be too much for oily skin I feel, there is an oil-free version available too which might work for oily skin.

There is also a skin renewing face oil from the same range that I might pick up in future to try.  If this is something you’d like to try you can purchase it from Boots for €46.
